I like to refer to myself as a Printer and to stray as far away as I can from the Graphic Designer title that unconventionally comes with the degree, because, to my knowledge, you can't get a degree in the "dying art form" of Letterpress. Just doesn't sound as good, but I see the importance in it. I truly value the physicality of work and believe it is becoming increasingly imperative with the rise of AI, which has significantly impacted graphic designers in terms of legitimacy and the necessity of work. I find that traditional mediums, such as letterpress, printmaking, and bookbinding, are the most fulfilling and irreplaceable, no matter how far technology advances. The weight of traditionality and craftsmanship by creating art that cannot be mass-produced is only ever growing in value in a society suffocated by overconsumption. Though my values lie strongly with traditional forms, I am very proficient in digital design, photography, and social media management, and consider myself an adaptable designer or printer.
